Sydney’s Friday Night Go-to Club

Just like how #Saturday nights are for the boys, my friends believe that #Friday nights should be for the girls. And for good reason too. WAO #nightclub at Ivy Sydney only operates on Fridays and never fails to disappoint when we are looking to go #clubbing to kick off the #weekend. To heighten the anticipation, there usually are special guests who perform every week, with #music ranging from #RnB to #hardstyle, whatever tickles your fancy. Tickets usually range in price, however if you manage to get in quick, the early bird tickets are a little less pricey than the regular. The lines are a different story though, as most young people in the Sydney #CBD on a Friday night probably have the same idea of fun as you, it would be advised to get there from around 9pm. Though if you have a little more money to splurge on the #weekend, getting a VIP table would mean pre-ing for longer and queueing for less time. Keep in mind on the weekends of #raves, for example, that people from across the country fly into Sydney and check out the #clubs on Friday night and so it is extra important to pre-buy a ticket to avoid any disappointment.

The Overall Vibes

When you first walk in, the club will be filling up, easily immersing you into the dancing and singing and overall good vibes going on around you. The club is two storeys, with a smaller but still as exciting RnB room upstairs. Also if you’re lucky, there will sometimes be a few spaces to sit and rest your feet, or to enjoy your drinks in peace before heading back out to the hectic dance floor. There are also two bars, making it a little easier to get your drinking on as the crowd is spread out.

If you are ever scrolling through your IG stories and see a gleaming picture of the WAO stage, these were probably taken on the long spiral staircase that is usually crowded, but is a great place for stories and highlights and just looking over from a higher view. There are also photographers who roam around capturing memories with you and your mates so it truly will be a night you won’t forget.

Drinks and Socialising

The drinks from the bar are pretty normal priced I’d say, serving the basics like tequila shots to mixed drinks such as vodka sunrises and so on. I would suggest having a separate account for drink money to avoid any expensive regrets that you may come to notice in the midst of your raging hangxiety. The crowd in Sydney is pretty welcoming, where dancing with strangers could potentially lead to you meeting a whole bunch of people ranging from course mates from uni, to promoters at other clubs to check out next time.

I guarantee you that WAO’s light and sound production and its large dance floors will guarantee a memorable time. A great place for special occasions, or even just to celebrate that it is Friday night again.
