Kicking Back – Things to do on a wholesome night in Sydney

Another #weekend coming up in #Sydney, and sick of the same old routine every week. If you want to try some other things to do in #Sydney, here are some ways to kick back and relax with your friends, family or partner that are all very accessible and don’t come with a massive price tag. The night is supposed to be filled purely with relaxation, good vibes, and making memories to be captured for your eyes only, and to look back on in the future.

For me, what better way to start the early evening than with a cute #picnic as the sun sets, or to try something a little different and cosy- perhaps a #picnic under the stars as the soft r'n'b plays in the background. A few good spots, particularly for an open sky and good vibes I would recommend would be the ICC (Darling Harbour) or Bradfield Park (Milson’s Point). Both are quite close to public transport and have immaculate nighttime vibes and are the best spots for those wholesome dnms.

A must-have for every #stargazing #picnic would be to check out the Messina (World Square) specials on their Instagram page before racing over to grab the biggest tub available. They always have a huge variety of unique ice-cream flavours, with new specials to try every time and if you don’t agree with me – the always present line building up outside their shop in the evenings will say otherwise. Arguably, I must say that Messina is the best Ice-Cream franchise in Sydney, with a store also in Randwick for those in the Eastern Suburbs, or for those who want to grab a quick #bite after a long day at #university.

Following a #picnic (or instead of a picnic, you’re in charge!), heading to the #movies may be the most chill way to end the night. Whether you are keen to see your favourite faces on the big screen or have built up anticipation to see Ryan Reynolds once again, it’s always a good bonding experience with whoever you go with. Load up on those snacks and kick back for a little tlc. Sydney has several movie theatres to accommodate where you may be, though the most prominent one would have to be Event Cinemas, located in George Street, Townhall – the closest to the parks listed above.

Another alternative to a cinema could be a movie under the stars, such as the Drive-in cinema in Blacktown, Western Sydney. Here, you can snuggle up with your friends and loved ones, while watching the #movie from the privacy of your car. Particularly, as the colder months start to hit, having full rein of the heating will ensure your maximal comfort throughout the whole streaming process. In case you get hungry, there is a whole snack bar filled with nostalgic childhood treats, Ice-cream, and drinks to quench your thirst. Personally, I would recommend bringing pillows, blankets, and a film camera to make the most of this cozy night and create special memories.

Another wholesome night activity to get the blood pumping one final time would be my personal childhood fave- Timezone. This place never fails to get everyone laughing and cheering together as we start a little friendly competition and work together to win the biggest plushie we can in the claw machine game. There are franchises of Timezone in just about every #shopping #center where the metro goes (i.e., Rouse Hill, Macquarie, Chatswood), making it extremely convenient, even if you’re like me and still on their Ls…

Like Timezone, but also offers other services such as Go-Karting and even haircuts, is Bankstown Entertainment Park, located in Western Sydney. This indoor warehouse vibe makes the park feel extremely spacious and liberating- the perfect way to run around and explore the different activities that are up for offer. The hyped-up music is a great way to get into the groove, accompanied by flashing neon signs and the electronic funk music coming from the game booths. The best part of all #arcades is checking the card to see how many tickets we have collectively earned, and what funky prices we can all get.

And there you have it, a compiled list of wholesome activities to create the perfect evening in Sydney, and potentially somewhere that will be the destination of your regular relaxation go-to’s!
